HOUSE SIGNS
We specialise in Slate House Signs, House Signs and numbers in various quality materials including Wood House Signs which we manufacture from Eco friendly sustainable forests protected by Coed Cymru (a part governmental funded organisation set up to protect the well being of the woodlands of rural Wales). We only use logs which are harvested as a result of the natural thinning process and under normal circumstances are sent off for pulp or as fuel for the ever increasing demand from wood burning stoves. All wood is sourced within a 20 mile radius of our manufacturing base in Cardiff and the logs are cut into slices before being naturally dried. Once the slices are dried to within 15% of moisture content they are individually planed with mult-passes until the surface on both sides are completely even. The next process entails sanding each piece, again individually by hand on a linisher with a '40 grit' sanding belt and again with a '60 grit' belt. The slices by now are beginning to resemble house signs and numbers and the natural grain is heightened further by 'dipping' in several coats of marine varnish, each time dried and keyed in between coats until a high gloss mirror finish is achieved. These now fully prepared House Signs and numbers are stockpiled to await lettering and decorating with colourful decorative motifs or silhouettes as and when the order arrives. Obviously these custom House signs are finally produced according to the customers' specification and once the letters and decorations are applied, the whole of the house name signs go on for a final dip in marine varnish which encases the whole thing in an envelope or protective coat against ultra violet degradation and break down in extremes of weather. Like any natural hardwood these house signs and numbers will require ongoing maintenance simply by regularly lightly rubbing down with finishing paper and recoating with marine or yacht varnish.
MEMORIALS
Our memorials and monuments are an affordable alternative option to mark the passing of loved ones with grace. The range of Memorials & Pet Memorials are available in different materials and can be customised to suit every taste and pocket. There are several options available which do not need to incur restrictive and expensive layouts which in the past have put families into financial hardship or sometimes even denying them the ability to mark the grave.
With the relaxation of the previous stringent rules regarding grave memorials, these high costs can be avoided by simply adopting a DIY philosophy. As we only produce and engrave our memorials and ship nationwide; we do not get involved in the fitting, we are thereby able to offer very affordable prices. Most of our memorial plaques and stone memorials have the option to fit some sort of ground stake which makes it very simple to put in place, whether as a temporary grave marker or permanent one. With a little imagination, headstones and memorials can be tastefully and inexpensively laid out without having to go to a great expense. For instance, by placing your gravestone on a bed of pea gravel which is readily available from builders' merchants or garden centres in very attractive colours, this can give a very nice contrast to the stone memorial.
